By my first 8-9 hours of my game, I had only fought like 2 bosses (of which one is the tutorial boss). The world was really well interconnected. Discovering shortcuts, NPCs, and items was always rewarding. There is a wide variety of prayers to try out. The parry is slightly OP but it doesn't ruin the game. I did enjoy the game and the boss fights overall but it lacks in a lot of things. Unfortunately, DLC's implemented somewhat unhappily and not directly accessible instantlyħ0% PCThis review is a bit hard to write. Leaping from ladder to ladder or those weird lamp jumps (stick/d-pad down) etc. + Very unique gameplay, basically not directly comparable to any other Metroidvania + very own, little used enemies + good challenging boss fights + decent scope of 15-20 hours - Map could be much better, especially in terms of information - sometimes not enough hints what to do - important skills can only be obtained with great effort - Game could have been structured more clearly - Hitboxes sometimes questionable or often 1 millimeter past the opponent - The penitent's reaction to faster fights sometimes seems sluggish "Now jump/dodge!" - Control sometimes feels a touch too imprecise - Platforming sometimes doesn't look round, e.g. + very extensive and not very linear + many Dark Souls parallels + high level of difficulty, but mostly remains fair + there are many nice little things in the game / quest tasks / NPCs etc. Getting 100% would be a real mammoth task here because of the very complex and confusing quests. I finished the game with 82.26% and 20 hours 32 minutes. One of the game's highlights are the boss fights, all of which range from demanding to difficult (esp. As usual in the Dark Souls field, the story is often covered with very cryptic words. The less agile control of the penitent is different than in other games of the genre, but at the same time makes the game a little bit appealing. The much too rudimentary map without important information is not particularly helpful. and the very low linearity, you quickly lose track. Unfortunately, due to the massive abundance of NPCs/items and Co. Uncover the stories and fates of these tortured characters to gain rewards and a deeper understanding of the dark world you inhabit.80% Xbox OneThe games kitchen has cooked something delicious: Very good, independent 2D pixel Metroidvania with strong Dark Souls influences and high difficulty, but which lacks the very last major fine-tuning. Some offer you aid, some may ask for something in return.
